A bureaucratic blunder has left Wales off a map of Europe on the cover of a prestigious EU reference book. The Eurostat Statistical Compendium has all the facts and figures on Europe. All EU member states, and the rest of Britain, are accurately represented on the cover - but Wales has disappeared and been replaced by the Irish Sea. If you choose to go with a ticket, remember that all tickets sold by Rail Europe include a pre-assigned seat whenever the carrier offers this option. (It’s always nice to start your journey in a comfortable, pre-selected seat.) You can access Wales from the south, in castle-rich Cardiff, or from the north, an impressive wildlife paradise.

The capital of Wales since just , Cardiff has embraced the role with vigour, emerging in the new millennium as one of Britain’s leading urban centres. Spread between an ancient fort and an ultramodern waterfront, compact Cardiff seems to have surprised even itself with how interesting it has become.   The shortlist for the Wales Book of the Year awards for has been announced. There are 10 prizes on offer for works of fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry in English and Welsh.

Home to three national parks and more than castles, Wales lies adjacent to England in the UK with the Atlantic Ocean to its east. Its capital, Cardiff, boasts fine Victorian architecture, and the regions of North, Mid and Southern Wales showcase some of the area’s most breathtaking scenery.   The Races of Europe marked Coon's upward trajectory leading to a generation of prominence, with posts at the University of Pennsylvania and recognition beyond the academic community to the new medium of television. A downward path was imminent with the publication of Coon's The Origin of Races ().
